  • Overview

    A Refund Accounting Specialist will be responsible for accurate and timely posting of refunds to reservations, resolving issues for travel agents, customers and internal team members as it relates to policies, penalties and refund values. 

    Responsibilities

    • Apply refunds accurately via credit cards and checks to our travel agents and customers.
    • Oral and written communication via telephone and email with customers, travel agents and internal departments
    • Adjust reservations for accurate commission calculations.
    • Work with third party insurance companies to distribute proper information.
    • Apply principles for each brand’s policies to calculate proper refundable values.
    • Process competitive match adjustment requests.
    • Handle inquiries from client directs and travel agents as it relates to payments or adjustments with effective verbal and written communications.
    • Verify bank deposits for accuracy and timely postings to accounts.
    • Work with all internal teams through standardized forms, grids and processes.
    • Confident and professional communication skills to enhance daily interactions with leadership.
    • Follow controls and Unique Processes established within the team.

    Qualifications

    Education:

    • High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
    • At least one year of related experience and/or training

    Experience:

    • Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Excel and Word. Experience with Microsoft AX is a plus.
    • Demonstrated commitment to the use of methods and procedures to standardize and streamline operations, identify and implement cost-savings and process improvements.
    • Demonstrated understanding of accounting controls and the maintenance of an appropriate control environment.
