  • Overview

    The Business Development Specialist is responsible for generating sales and achieving established sales goals for assigned small to mid-sized producing travel agencies.  Primary duty will be to contact agents via the phone and identify and convert opportunities for revenue growth.  Ability to develop and execute a defined strategic sales plan which will grow opportunity accounts into high producing accounts through share shift within the agency.  Prospect low producers to identify new top prospects and initiate sales plans to move market share from competitors.  To assist virtually or over the phone in growing revenue from assigned accounts by training agents on ALG brands and products.


    • Develop strategic alliances with agents/agencies with a goal of growing revenue for ALG brands by gaining commitments, and executing to these commitments
    • Identify top opportunity agencies within assigned territory. Identify those right fit agencies for share shift potential
    • Proactively contact agents/agencies on a daily basis via the phone and by using other technology
    • Proactively seek group business and assist in securing it for ALG
    • Update ARM with opportunities and feedback following each agency contact
    • Create brand loyalty through the use of key tools such as joint business plans, agency education, providing ALG engagement tools to agents, product differentiation, and value proposition of booking brand
    • Communicate monthly scorecard results to select agencies
    • Proactively seek to grow opportunities and market share by shifting business from competition
    • Be responsive to agent needs, issue resolution, and good follow up.
    • Achieve sales targets by managing territory effectively and growing the accounts with the biggest opportunities
    • Increase and promote distribution through VAX booking platform in line with established goals
    • Document all activities via sales reporting tools provided
    • Maintain and execute engagement plans for all top prospect  accounts
    • Monitor competitive activities in the marketplace and provide feedback in reporting and in meetings
    • Deliver webinar trainings for identified territories and accounts
    • Keep RDIR informed of any issues and progress of revenue growth on a regular basis. Provide appropriate feedback, competitive information, and weekly progress through L10 meetings, emails, and weekly reports
    • Comply with ALG expense reporting policies
    • Employ Strategic Coach tools as a foundation of Business Methodology
    • Align with Analytics Team to determine profitability and opportunity by account and territory
    • Use reporting tools to understand profitability, trends and goal tracking
    • Increase agency profitability based on directional selling in line with ALG strategy
    • Align with the Group Department to follow up on, and assist in closing agency leads
    • Align with Brand pricing, product and engagement representatives to ensure up to date multi brand focus
    • Use reporting tools to generate reports and/or score cards for all account meetings
    • Document all activities via sales reporting tools provided
    • Determine agency onboarding and development requirements – including Implementation Team option




    High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or at least one year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience



    Minimum one year experience



    Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak/write effectively with staff and vendors at all levels and create and deliver presentations.



    Analyze, problem solve and trouble shoot issues with emphasis placed on satisfying the customer. Well organized and detail oriented with ability to handle a multitude of tasks and prioritize workload efficiently.
