    Apple Leisure Group (ALG) is a vertically integrated private equity portfolio company in the travel and hospitality space, focused on packaged travel and resort/brand management in Mexico and the Caribbean. ALG currently operates 6 subsidiaries, including a resort and brand management company, 2 tour operators, an online travel agency and a loyalty program.
    The Competitive Intelligence Technical Analyst will report to the Manager of Competitive Intelligence and will be responsible for the development of various automated reports, pricing dashboards, and analyses for distribution to ALG (Apple Leisure Group) Revenue Management. The role will also be tasked with ad-hoc projects that support the ALG Revenue Management teams and other groups within ALG.


    Primary Responsibilities:

    • Design, produce, streamline, automate, and institutionalize various dashboards and complex analyses, including but not limited to:
      • ALG pricing and inventory position versus competitors in the market,
      • Insights and recommendation of price points for ALG,
      • ALG marketing better understand the historical tendencies of competitors’ various promotions.
      • ALG's room inventory levels historically as well as how they appear to compare to competitors.
    • Serve as an expert in using third party price shopping tools.  Understanding both how they work and troubleshooting when issues arise.
    • Develop systems and processes to monitor price and supply competitiveness through data sourced from external vendors.
    • Extract data from various data sources / data warehouses in the ALG organization and providing analyses and recommendations based on that data.
    • Execute on ad-hoc projects as required by revenue management and the Manager of Competitive Intelligence.
    • Be an SME and consultant to various ALG teams on competitive intelligence practices and analyses.
    • Drive data collection, scheduling and quality control to build up database of competitive position.
    • Help drive business impact through analytical guidance and reporting.
    • Work on various ad-hoc projects and tasks as requested.


    Key qualifications include:

    • Good knowledge of Microsoft Excel, including understanding of creating formulas in Excel and streamlining reporting using Excel spreadsheets.
    • Aptitude and desire to grow into becoming an expert user of Microsoft Excel, Qlikview, Tableau, and other applicable tools, including automating and streamlining processes and reports.
    • Aptitude and desire to independently conduct complex financial and statistical analysis.
    • High level of intellectual curiosity and focus on generating action-oriented business insights.
    • Possession of excellent written, oral communication and presentation skills.
    • Ability to work on large data sets.

    Additional Preferences:

    • VBA and MYSQL experience helpful but not required.
    • Working knowledge of business intelligence platforms.
    • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
